flying high

13 Jan

There is something a little scintillating about taking off at night, strapped into your tiny airplane seat, adventures unknown upon arrival of your destination, everything dark except for the airport which casts a hazy flood of light that glints off the ground and jumbo tails of jumbo jets. And once you’re up in the air, you’re surrounded by darkness on all sides, which is simultaneously calming and terrifying. Looking down it seems like the sky has upset itself, with twinkles of starlight on the ground below from buildings and homes and life, and above you, only the noisy roof of the airplane.
